If you’ve been on a career break and are ready to make a comeback, here are 3 things to consider before stepping back into the limelight.
1. Don’t “announce a comeback”. Prove you’re active:
Nobody cares about the break. They care what you’re doing now. Skip the shalaye of “here’s why I’ve been away”. Instead, show up with “here’s what I’m doing now”
Ease back into it with a realistic target like dropping 1 piece of content weekly: a 30-sec monologue, studio clip, headshot, whatever. Your fans want assurance that you won’t disappear again and consistency is that assurance. So, don’t just do one big comeback post if you’re not ready to sustain the energy.
Your first post back may feel cringe. Post it anyway. The 5th post is when it stops feeling like starting over and starts feeling like momentum.
Got you — here’s 3 more tips to actually own the spotlight after a hiatus:
2. Control your first 9 posts = control your narrative
When someone clicks your profile, they see a 3×3 grid. Make those 9 posts tell 1 story: “I’m back, I’m working”.
Mix: 3 proof clips, 3 personality/behind-the-scenes, 3 “what I’m about” posts. If 7/9 are old photos from 2021, you’re still telling the “hiatus” story.
3. Make your bio + highlights do the pitching for you
Update these 3 things before you post:
- Bio: “Actor/Artiste | London | In studio this month | New reel ⬇️”
- Pinned post: Your best 20-sec clip. It’s basically your digital headshot.
- Highlights: “Reel”, “Behind the scenes”, “Testimonials/Press”. No “2020 vacay” highlight if you’re rebranding.
Long and short is, stop thinking “comeback post”. Instead, think “episode 1 of season 2”. Same you, new arc.
