Growth doesn’t feel brave. It feels awkward.
That first TikTok with shaky audio. Pitching your client to 10 podcasts and getting 9 ‘no’s. Asking your audience to buy tickets. Posting that clip before it is perfect. That’s cringe.
The thing though is, cringe is just the tax you pay to cross from “thinking about it” to “doing it”. Nobody learns guitar without terrible first chords. No actor fills a one-man show without posting the messy rehearsal clip. No PR campaign gets traction until you send the email you’re scared will be ignored.
The other side of cringe isn’t confidence. It’s momentum building. You send the awkward DM → get ignored → but the 4th DM books the
An interview that sells 20 tickets.
Your comfort zone will tell you to wait until it’s polished. However, growth says: publish while it’s cringe, because every pro you admire was once someone who felt embarrassed and posted anyway.
So if you’re hesitating on that post, pitch or even song today, my advice is do it cringe. Do it messy. Do it now. Everything your growth needs is waiting 10 seconds after the cringe feeling hits.
Stay cringey! ✌
